Lessons in Blackheath

Your Local Instructorin Blackheath

Blackheath sits on the western edge of the area we cover, between Greenwich and Shooters Hill. KGS teaches automatic lessons in Blackheath from our Plumstead base, reached along the A207 over Shooters Hill.

The open heath gives Blackheath a very different feel from the terraced streets further east. Roads crossing the heath are wide and straight, with clear views but faster traffic, unusual junctions and pedestrians crossing to the open space. Blackheath Village adds a busy shopping street with parking, buses and narrow sections.

Blackheath is also well placed for learners who want to explore beyond South East London. Its links to the A2 and the routes towards Greenwich, Lewisham and Kidbrooke mean lessons can include a wide variety of road types, building the judgement you need for longer journeys once you have passed.

Lessons are always taught by Satnam Singh Cheema in an automatic car, with a 2-hour minimum that gives time to practise on both the heath and the surrounding main roads.

Who we teach in Blackheath

Blackheath learners often want experience on faster roads such as the A2, or help with complex junctions and roundabouts. Newly qualified drivers book Pass Plus or motorway lessons to build confidence beyond the test.

We also teach returning drivers from Blackheath who want to feel comfortable driving again after a break.

Why KGS

Why Learners in BlackheathChoose KGS

One instructor, every lesson

KGS Driving School is an independent, one-instructor school. You learn with Satnam Singh Cheema from your first lesson to your last, so you never have to explain your progress to someone new or adjust to a different teaching style halfway through. He knows what you have covered, what you find difficult and what to focus on next.

Lessons adapted to you

Satnam is known for a calm, patient and helpful approach. Rather than following a rigid script, he adapts each lesson to the way you learn, building a personalised plan around your experience, progression and abilities. As one pupil put it, he approaches teaching in many ways to adapt to each learner.

Time to actually learn

Every lesson lasts at least 2 hours. Shorter lessons often end just as you settle in. Two hours gives you time to warm up, learn something new and practise it until it starts to feel natural, which makes better use of every pound you spend.

Prices you can see

Prices are shown openly: £38 per hour on weekdays between 9am and 5pm, and £40 per hour after 5pm and at weekends. A prepaid 10-hour block saves £15. Payment is by bank transfer at least 4 days before each lesson, so there is never any confusion on the day.

Trusted and checked

Satnam is fully DBS checked and teaches pupils of all ages from 17 upwards. Parents booking lessons for a son or daughter, and adults learning later in life, can feel reassured about who is sitting beside them in the car.

Automatic only

Why Learn inan Automatic

Every KGS lesson is taught in an automatic car. With no clutch to control and no gears to change, you can give your full attention to the road: observation, positioning, speed and planning ahead. For many learners, especially nervous drivers and people returning after a break, this makes driving feel far more manageable.

Passing your test in an automatic car gives you a licence to drive automatic cars only. For most drivers this is no longer a real limitation. Automatic, hybrid and electric cars are increasingly common on UK roads, and many new cars are now sold as automatics only.

Automatic cars are also well suited to London driving. Stop-start traffic, busy junctions and hill starts are simpler when the car handles the gears for you, leaving you calmer and more focused in exactly the situations where concentration matters most.

“Just passed my driving practical today, was very happy and I would like to spread the word that Satnam my instructor is very good at what he does. He approaches teaching in many ways to adapt to your experience, progression and abilities. I would like to say thank you, and recommend those who are looking for an instructor to try Satnam at KGS Driving School!”
